Jayci's Very Own Room

*EDITED to add: I know I posted this already during "guest room" week, but seeing as Jayci's the only baby we have, and her room is the only one that works for this week's tour, and I'm too tired/lazy to repost something new (and apparently too wordy to NOT write in run-on sentences) - here it is again!
I am just so glad it's Friday. I can't tell y'all how exhausted I am. Which is strange, really, considering that's only been the last two weeks that Jayci has started sleeping from 8pm straight through to 8am. That's 12 uninterrupted hours. Which means I, personally, get about 8 hours of sleep every night. So riddle me this: why do I NOW feel like I've been hit by a truck. Every night. Things were much better when I was sleeping in 2 hour bursts. I should have another baby and go back to that. Or not.

Friday also means another "Show Me Where You Live" over at Kelly's Korner. The theme this week is guest room. But our house only has three bedrooms. One is ours, one is Jayci's, and the other resembles Monica's secret closet on Friends. You know, the one where she shoves everything and hides her mess. And, heaven knows I'm not showing you THAT room, I have my dignity people.

Oops I rambled again. That's so highly unusual for me . . .

Here's Jayci's room - which Adam and I lovingly prepared for her. Let's hope she still likes it when she's 18, because I am not painting again. This is her "changing table" (which is a dresser from the antique store that I LOVE)
The kiddos we work with downtown are always so amazed that Jayci has her own room. A room that was decorated and lovingly prepared with her in mind. The kids who have their own rooms downtown, have rooms with blank walls and dingy mattresses, usually on the floor, made up with hand-me-down, unkept bedding and errant springs poking through. . . So seeing the room I prepared for Jayci shows them how much I love her and couldn't wait for her arrival. They cannot fathom such love. Or understand that it's the same kind of love they deserve. I wish I could prepare a room for every single one of them. And decorate each one especially for them. Pink frills for Samaya and yellow flowers for Kimmera. Basketball for Sabo, baseball for Sincere, and football for Zack. . . .

I want my kiddos to know that they, in fact, do have a room being prepared for them by a loving Father. A room that bears their name. A room made specifically for them. One that matches their needs and personality, even more perfectly that Extreme Home Makeover's highly thematic rooms. A room that is housed in a mansion of gold on streets of rubies. . .

  28. I love Jayci's room.. how perfectly beautiful! And the picture of the three of you just grabs my heart. But what you said about the children downtown BROKE it. We forget, as we stay in our insulated little "safe zones", that there are far too many children growing up without a loving home. Too many have no home at all. The greatest thing we can do is to let these children (and adults) know just how much He loves them. Not by words... but by the love we pour on them. YOU are so special.. overflowing with His love so that it washes over "your kids". And even though it may seem as if they have duck backs, repelling all you pour? I feel sure that it cleans away some of the hurt and the pain, and that drops of it remain. I would truly like to meet up with you someday.. (but only if you bring Jayci.. ;<)

  35. Oh my gosh- I was just parusing your blog from iheartfaces: I LOVE her room! It is fabulous. I wish I could afford to redo my kid's room, it needs some major help. It's beautiful! And don't worry, she can practice spelling when she's 18, you won't need to repaint the room. :-)

I saw a link to a Dream Center in Atlanta. I work at a similar type center in the Middle East. We teach English, have a clinic for the underprivileged and try to meet basic needs for those in our community. We've been here 2 1/2 year and it's super challenging but amazingly rewarding!
God bless your work there and your beautiful daughter!
