Pictures, Links, Books Etc

I am currently nursing Caden and eating a sandwich while pecking away at my computer with one finger. That said, I just dont have a beautiful post in me today. I do have some things I'd love to share, but at this rate it would take me about 3 hours to type it. So today, you get a quick list, and some more pictures from my 366 project . . .

So far this year, I've read 4 books, and thoroughly enjoyed all 4. My sweet friend Kathryn lent me My Name is Ashler Lev and Cry, the Beloved Country. They were both beautiful. I also read Divergent and The Glass Castle.  I would recommend all 4 books, although Divergent was probably my least favorite - I felt like it was so much like The Hunger Games, except not nearly as good. Speaking of the Hunger Games, I don't think I've been this excited for a movie in a long time. Loved, loved, loved the books. If you haven't read them, you definitely should. Definitely.

Speaking of reading, I wanted to share some of my favorite blog posts that I've stumbled onto recently. They are all worth your time. And the one from Big Mama makes me giggle just thinking about it.

A harvest of what is yet to come (Katie Davis for (in)courage)
On Gifts and Talents (Momastery)
There's a Sirious lack of communication (Big Mama)
How to talk to kids about race and racism (Rage Against the Minivan)

And finally, here are the latest from my 366 project. Previously, I called it a 365 project, but then I realized that 2012 is a leap year.

  1. Chaim Potok is a wonderful writer--his other books are great, too.

And, oh, your children. Their faces make me smile so much.

  2. Beautiful pictures!! I started reading Cry, The Beloved Country for my book club but was unable to attend that month and never finished....I WILL finish it. I will!
Thanks for the recommendations. The Hunger Games books are on my list, too. Book club is doing Cannery Row right now and I'm finishing up The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest....

  3. Loved that book... it is actually what stirred me to not major in Art or Graphic Design and go into teaching! (or maybe it was the Gift of Asher Lev)... either way both are great books!

  5. This is a random comment but I thought you might think that it is great that Children's Healthcare of Atlanta made it in the top 100 company's to work for in the US!! They truly are amazing there!

  6. Thanks for sharing the link to the blog post On Gifts and Talents. It was just what I needed today! :) Why is it so easy to fall into the terrible trap of comparing?? Yuck! I hate when I do that! (ex. Why isn't Beau walking/talking/etc as well as other kids his age.) The post was such a great reminder that Beau is perfect just the way he is...loved and cherished and perfectly made...regardless of whether or not he meets his milestones at the same time as his peers. Thanks for sharing! :)

  7. Love those pictures! You're so on top of it...I'd never make it at a project 366! You go, girl! ;)

I'll have to check out Hunger Games. I was totally engrossed in the Twilight books and I'm not sure I've finished a book since then. Terrible because I love to read. Maybe you'll inspire me!
