I'm Becca. Married to my high-school sweetheart. Mom to the two cutest
kiddos in the world. Urban missionary in inner-city Atlanta. Lover of
diet coke and cheese dip. Reluctant cloth diaperer, gardener, and
chicken raiser. I read books and take pictures and play games with
kiddos from the neighborhood, while letting my house be a mess and my
husband do all the cooking. I look for the beauty in the everyday,
counting my blessings, and following Jesus on an adventure we never
could have expected but wouldn't trade for anything!
Our daughter Jayci, is almost 4, she is a spunky sweet little girl and the light of our lives. And Caden, our son, was born just over a year ago. After his birth we discovered that he had a severe heart defect, and when he was five days old, he had open heart surgery. Even with him home with us and doing well, we are still trying to figure out how to glorify and trust the Lord as we walk through this new and unexpected part of our journey. Our home sits smack-dab in the middle of one of the "worst" zip codes in Atlanta for crime and poverty. And yet, we love this neighborhood that God has brought us into. We run a mentoring program that partners with the neighborhood elementary school, and we are dreaming of a neighborhood not changed but transformed. . .
Adam and I are full time "urban missionaries" to Atlanta. We work with inner-city kids through a mentoring and tutoring program called Blueprint 58, and recently moved into a neighborhood downtown to do incarnational ministry and be closer to the kiddos we work with. (Speaking of kiddos, you'll probably see a lot of these two around here too - Zack and Sabo, two of the kids we've been mentoring for the past five years or so). You can read more about our ministry on our blog by reading these posts . . .
We love hearing from you guys, and we are truly blown away again and again by the way the Lord uses y'all to support and encourage us in our ministry and in our journey . . . I wish I could just sit down and eat cheese dip and drink diet coke with each and every one of you . . . but since that's not really feasible, I'd love to chat via email anytime - Becca1612 at hotmail dot com
